Kadazandusun is the largest indigenous ethnic group in Sabah Malaysia which is located in the island of Borneo. Their language is also know as Kadazandusun and is spoken by about 500,000 people in the country. There are more than twenty Kadazandusun dialect spoken in various areas in Sabah.
In this apps, some of the songs are composed according to the dialect of the coastal Kadazan (predominantly spoken in Penampang and Papar) and the rest are following the Bundu-Liwan dialect which is widely spoken in the interior such as in Tambunan, Ranau and Keningau.
For couple of years, the Kadazandusun songs have been around but to date people started to get interested in them and even have drawn attention of the non Kadazandusun native speakers including foreigners. Aside from expressing ideas artistically through songs, the production of the apps is also part of efforts of preserving the language.
Most of these songs are actually written from the inspiration based on experience of love, friendship, and family as well as relationship with the environment.
